The Greatest Survival Strategy devised by man : Religion.
    Monday, November 06, 2006

All living beings live by two simple rules : 1. Survival of the Self. and 2. Survival of the Species. Animals fight physically for survival. Man having a developed brain has invented ideas which enhance his and ultimately human survivability and religion was one of them. Science is his latest idea and as it develops and prooves its effectiveness may replace religion. There is nothing divine about religion and it is just another survival strategy devised by man.

Religion originated when they started burying animals with bodies. It was evident that they had started believing in an afterlife and buried the animal to help the dead in the afterlife.

Religion overcame the harshness of reality in ancient times where mortality was high by providing inspirational stories/myths and faux plausible explanations of natural phenomenon to prevent people from tiring their brains by overthinking on these topics. There was no science for man to investigate nature and yet there was all this world in front of him begging for an explanation. Religion brought in myths and stories of origin so that ancient man could get on with life.

All ancient peoples grouped together in small horticultural societies worshipped women and fertility because that was where more help was going to come from - necessary since mortality was high. This led to hedonism and later when organised religion sought to unite men and synergize their energies they had to break the power women had over men. This is why in almost all major religions women are marginalized and in some veiled.

In modern times in prosperous societies it is no longer necessary to unite men against some common enemy and hence there is the rise of the feminine.

As population increased and with the rise of agriculture mass religion appeared to unite the masses. It is still called the opium of the masses.

Many people now with the rise of the information age and the spread of information see that all religions are essentially the same and hence educated societies like Parsis worship Ganapati and Hindus visit Mount Mary.

Spirituality will become man's next frontier after he develops spiritual lobes on top of his frontal lobes. This will only happen if spiritually developed persons are preferentially selected as good mating material.

This does not seem to be happening as in all religions spiritually developed persons seem to shun the material world and 'samsara'. The change will probably take place when a mutation induces a change in a certain population which enables it to perform miracles and enhance survivability. Such people will then be selected over others as good mating material and very gradually over millenia the whole population will change.

Religion has had its run. Science is the new religion.

Whatever you are passionate about it will never hurt you to give it away for free because you love the process so much you are willing to repeat it just for the pleasure and passion.

The journey becomes more important than the end result which is given away for free so as to repeat the journey!
    Victim of Chaos Theory!

Chaos theory has claimed another victim in Mumbai. A finalist in Jhalak Dikhlaja - a reality show on Sony TV - distributed hundreds of SIM cards to friends so that they could vote for her. One of these SIM cards was given by her choreographer to a friend of his. This friend used the SIM card to send offensive messages to his wife who was having a tiff with him. The wife complained to the police who investigated the shop where the SIM card was bought by following the mobile number. The police were astounded to hear that hundreds of SIMs were bought by one person and followed the lead to the dancer's house.

This resulted in bad press for the dancer and an ultimate loss of 50 lacs which were certain to go to her as she was the better dancer. Though there may have been other factors this was probably the thing that did her in.

Now we understand how a butterfly fluttering its wings in Tokyo can cause a cyclone in Mexico. This is how small events have big repercussions!

What you say about the world says more about you, than about the world.
    Understanding the Success Formula!

What is a Formula? In chemistry it is the code behind a successful product. We say that the formula for water is H2O because when we take two atoms of Hydrogen and one of Oxygen and combine them in a specific way we succeed in making water. Similarly to successfully achieve an end product or aim in any field we have to first find out the formula or the constituents of the product. If we wish to achieve an aim we have to find out the correct steps that we have to undertake in order to achieve it. That series of steps then becomes the formula which we can at any time reapply to achieve success. Once we get the secret formula or code we do not have to repeat the learning process all over again and hence we can save time and money. Thus a successful formula becomes a guaranteed template for future success. We do not have to repeat the trial-and-error process we employed or the experimentation we did in the first instance to achieve success. Once we get the formula we just apply it repeatedly to achieve success.

The first step in cracking the formula in any subject or product is to thoroughly learn the subject. There is no substitute for this step. It is a rigorous step and must be undertaken seriously and passionately in order to gain the intuition for cracking the formula. Intuition plays a very big role in cracking any formula. It is a subconscious process which is only explained by analysts in retrospect. When the successful man applies it he does not consciously recognize its presence. He only understands what will work and what will not work. It is only after the achievement of success that analysts and critics theorizing to death publish article after article explaining it and in many cases surprising those successful persons for many of whom the journey was more important than the end. This intuition comes years after passionately studying and working in the discipline. This is why so many career counselors advise you to turn your passion/hobby into your career. It is the only way of ensuring that your attention will not be diverted from the subject. It is only then that you will eat, drink and sleep your subject rather than eat, drink and be merry!

The second step is to learn what are called the tricks of the trade. Every trade or subject has its tricks which help you achieve success in it. Mnemonics, for instance, is one trick by which you can master subjects which have large amounts of information to be memorized. Logical thinking helps you master subjects like engineering where there is a problem to be solved at every step.

The third step is to understand the effect of time or trends. There are some formulas which are constant like that for water. This formula will never change with time and space. It will be the same on the moon or on distant stars. It will be the same millions of years from now. The same cannot be said for other formulas like the formula for a successful film. These formulas have their own life history. They are born, they get old and they die to give rise to new ones. To achieve success with such formulas it is necessary to understand their age. Whether a new formula is needed or the old one will do becomes the most important decision in your life! Thus we have Formula No. 1 and Formula No 2 which is to break Formula No 1. The breaking of a formula is also a formula. To understand the age of the formula you have to undertake market research. This alone will tell you which formula to apply. Someone achieves success by trial and error or by following a rigorous discipline and a formula is born. Others scramble to achieve success by applying the same formula. Over time this leads to a saturation of the market. The market becomes jaded, dull and lackluster. Along comes a bright young man/woman who recognizes what the market needs and Voila! a new formula is born by breaking the old one.

The final step in order to achieve continuous success is to keep on making and breaking formulas and to have multiple formulas up your sleeve. A bowler can only be successful if he can bowl different varieties of balls. A batsman can only be successful if he has multiple strokes in his armoury. Success in any field depends on having multiple successful formulas ready to be applied with supreme flexibility and agility.
The Hidden Message of 'Lage raho Munnabhai'.

The Hidden Message of 'Lage raho Munnabhai'

From the beginning of the film we are led to believe that Gandhiji exists but as a ghost. Munnabhai only can see him for some special reason. The chaiwala child cannot see him. Harilal cannot see him. Circuit cannot see him but since Munna is his boss he lies to Munna. This reinforces Munnabhai's hallucination/belief about being able to see Gandhiji. When they visit the psychiatrist he tries to break Munna's belief but is not allowed to do so by Circuit who truly believes that his boss is always right.

At the press conference the psychiatrist shows that Gandhiji knows what Munnabhai knows and does not know what Munna does not know. He does this by asking questions that Munnabhai does not know the answer to. As soon as Munnabhai comes to know of the answer Gandhiji answers but not before. Thus proving that Munna and Gandhi are one and the same. By accepting this logic Munnabhai also shows that he has not become psychotic or mad. He also immediately tests Circuit and realizes that all this time Circuit has been reinforcing his belief due to the innocent reason that Circuit believes that his boss is always right.

The hidden message is now revealed and it is "Gandhiji=Munnabhai". Since all Indians equate Gandhi with God the message now becomes "God=Munna".
Since Munnabhai accepts the psychiatrist's solution like a normal man and also since he is the hero and everyone identifies with the hero the message now becomes "God=Man"

Throughout the film Gandhi shows Munna his human side, how he stole gold from his brother and repented and other stories. Gandhiji was a great man and this combined with the fact of his assassination made us put him on a pedestal and worship him like a God. But in the process we conveniently forgot his ideology.
By equating Gandhi with Munnabhai the director has brought him down to the human level and in the process highlighted his forgotten legacy which was his ideology. Thus he shows that all this time we were worshiping the wrong thing. We should have been worshiping Gandhi's ideas and thoughts and following them but we forgot them and instead just paid lip service to Gandhi.

By equating God with Man the director shows that there is a hidden God in all of us and we should connect with him and talk with him just like Munna does and follow what He says. This then is the real message of 'Lage raho......" and that is that : GOD=MAN
This message is hidden because if the director were to reveal it he would be branded as a blasphemer and his film would be banned. Since he wants everyone to see the film with an open mind he has put across this message in a subliminal form to allow it to penetrate the subconscious and flower within.
Accident of Birth poses problems of Religion.

Accident of Birth poses problems of Religion.

What happens when the accident of birth places you in one religion and your experience of the world contradicts the religion of your forefathers? Such a thing happened recently to Aashish Khan who was born a Muslim but after fifty-years plus experience of life decided to embrace hinduism. Aasish Khan is the son of sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, 84. Akbar khan has termed his son’s decision as a action to defame the family’s reputation.

Aasish has changed his surname to Debsharma. He claimed that his family is initially Brahmins. His great-grandfather Sadananda Debsharma had started using the title ‘Khan’. He, further, claimed that his family never converted to Islam.

However, Ali Akbar said that his family has been Muslims for generations. His son shamed and hurt the past generation of our family.

Aasish is making several claims that his family even prayed to goddesses Kali and Saraswati, never followed Islamic rituals and offered namaz. He also claimed that his grandfather had opted the names, Dhyanesh, Pranesh and Amaresh for him and other kids.

A similar experience befell Harilal Gandhi many years before but it was clear that this weak headed youth chose to become a Muslim merely to spite his father who gave him less attention than he gave the nation. Later on he reconverted to Hinduism. He was also an alcoholic and came into the limelight merely due to his father who was more of a Father to the Nation than to him. He fell into the hands of unscrupulous elements who manipulated him for their own ends and turned him against his own father taking advantage of his alcoholism.

Both these cases featured in the national press because of the rich and prominent personalities they showcased. It is clear that only the rich can afford to change their religion while the rest of us are largely stuck into whatever our forefathers believed.

Both would have been better off if only they had realised that religion whether Hindu Christian or Muslim is only a method of uniting people and synergizing their energies and converting from one to another does not really change anything.
    Real World and Virtual World

Man created computer hardware. Man then created software to run on the hardware and so created the virtual world. Since this occured in our times we know this to be a fact. The passage of time has not been sufficient enough to create myths and legends out of these facts.
In creating the virtual world man imitated the real world before him in which he lived. That is why he created Object Oriented Programming because he saw how real world objects behaved with each other. Man did all this to solve the problems of the real world where the numbers were becoming too large for him to handle rapidly and efficiently.
In ancient times also there were problems but nothing that man could not handle by himself, so he created religion to unite men and synergize their energies. Remember there was no law and order at that time so religion set down codes of conduct for men to follow. It is another thing that too much of anything can lead to bad things. Thus too much religion in the hands of fundamentalists whether Hundu Muslim or Christian has led to strife and wars.
Is it then any surprise that the virtual world resembles the real world?

    Tips For New Internet Surfers
    by: Franck Silvestre

When you are new to the web, trying to start a new business to make a living online, you need advices to make your surffing life easier...

Everyday, thousands of new surfers open their browsers for the first time, it is confusing in the beginning, but if you have some good advices in the early beginning, you can surf easier and faster with a friendly browser...

    Tip 1: Surf in security.

The first action that you will do if you are new to the net is to open your browser to surf. If you have a PC, like most of the Internet population. You will have Internet explorer installed in your computer, but it is not the best browser available on the net, and it is in fact limited. You may think that it is hard to surf on Internet.

When you will discover Mozilla Firefox, you will be even more happy to surf on Internet, for sure.

One of the first reason you should use Firefox is the integrated Firewall, which protect you against spyware and other adawares.

Tip 2: No need to tape http://www.---.com all the time.

The second reason to choose Firefox is that you save time; for instance, when you went on ebay.com yesterday, you wrote: http://www.ebay.com with Firefox, you just tape “e” in the address bar of your browser, then http://www.ebay.com will appear in the drop down menu, it's like magic, and it's fun too.

Tip 3: See all your pages in only one window.

I really love this one; you can surf in tab. That is really powerful.

For instance, with Internet Explorer, whenever you click on a link, you have 2 choice: open the page in the same window, or open it in a new window. Firefox enable you to open several pages in one window.

Let's explain: you are now looking yahoo.com, and you want to see the news, you just right click on the link, select open in a new tab, and you have now two pages in only one window. To switch between your pages, you just need to click on anyone of the page you want to look in, all that in the same window. You can open fifteen windows in one time if you want.

Better, you can bookmark(in Internet explorer, bookmark is favorites) a tab, and open it later. It is a very intelligent way of surfing. It is very efficient when you are doing some researches on a subject, on google for example.

Tip 4: All your downloads at the same place.

The fourth reason to choose Firefox is that when you download a file on your computer, sometimes, you want to open it, but you face a problem: Where did you save that file? With Firefox, just click on tools, and then you select download, and a pop up window appear. You just scroll to find your program. It will save you time and a lot of headaches.

However, it is recommended, for the first time, to save your download on your desktop, then after save your file in the folder you choose. You can download firefox for Free. You just type firefox in google.com and you're done.

Tip 5: Don't forget a good anti virus,

While you surf on Internet, some hijackers will attempt to damage your computer, by introducing a virus in it. If you don't take your precaution, you may loose all that is stored in your hard disk. You can download AVG, which is excellent at download.com.

There is a lot to learn when you start on Internet, but take your time. And everything will go smoothly.

    Religion - Pros and Cons!
    Saturday, July 29, 2006

One of the uses of religion is to hide the harsh and grim reality of life from us humans - nonentities in this huge universe - and hence make life bearable and liveable so as to enhance survival. However this may rebound when faith is challenged by a reality challenge sending survival into an unrecoverable tailspin!

Religion still survives because man is learning to cope with reality challenges due to technology and faith still takes all the credit!
    The Gangs of Religion

Religion has created huge gangs who, when they are not fighting each other, turn to the atheists and agnostics in their midst to try to pound them into abject surrender.
